Seminar “Paving the Road for Micro-Insurance in the MENA Region”

From 16 - 17 December 2009, the Seminar “Paving the Road for Micro-Insurance in the MENA Region" will take place in Cairo, Egypt.

This two day event is hosted by the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) in cooperation with the Microinsurance Joint Working Group of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and the Microinsurance Network, and the Access to Insurance Initiative.

International and regional experts will share their experience and discuss the options for overcoming various challenges for the sound development of microinsurance in the MENA region. The conference will include 4 plenary panel discussions and 2 breakout sessions covering key topics. This will include the role of policy, regulation and supervision; innovative approaches to product design  and distribution; and, issues related to market conduct and consumer protection. Participants will include representatives from all stakeholders -- insurance regulators, policymakers, international organisations, development-aid agencies, insurers and intermediaries.
